Minimum Requirements:
• Completion of an anesthesia residency program or qualified CRNA program
• Board certification or board eligible (Certification will be required)
• Must be ACLS certified
We currently have four (4) fulltime Anesthesiologists and two (2) fulltime CRNAs on staff. Anesthesia physicians do not supervise the CRNAs. The CRNAs work independently under the supervision of the surgeon they are assisting. Responsibilities include:
• Sit your own cases & prep your own patients
• 7 ORs, 1 cysto room - we run 4 every day and hold one for OB.
• Night call is mostly for OB. When on call - come in and place epidural, then you can go back home. Nurse can place bag, but any bolus or change in medication would require the on-call anesthesia to come back in to address.
• During VBAC anesthesia is required to stay in the house - all other times anesthesia can take call from home, but must be within 17 minutes response time to the hospital due to Code-17, which is an emergency C-section and we have 17 minutes to get baby delivered.
• Back up call is mostly for epidurals or emergency C-sections, or if the primary on-call anesthesia provider is busy in a big case.
• Hospital C-section rate is lower than the National rate.
• 1.0 OB deliveries per day, approximately 371 baby deliveries per year.
