The IT Support Specialist performs a variety of complex technical duties related to the installation and maintenance of the city PC computers and network workstations, conducts training to end users in the basic operations of PCs and office software, and provides a first line of support for users in troubleshooting technical problems.

Responsibilities Include:
• Installs, configures and maintains citywide PCs and network workstations including various hardware and software components.
• Tests various PC and network workstation hardware and software.
• Reconfigures PC system components, including network interface cards, modems, controller boards, memory chips, hard drives, CD-ROM drives, printers, scanners, digital images, etc.
• Administers applications including but not limited to the following:
Public Safety Applications (Spillman), E-Mail systems, MDTs and connectivity devices.
• Ensures connectivity to State applications.
• Acts as first line of support for all city Information Technology needs.
• Provides basic training for users relating to word-processing, spreadsheet, network login and security, printing, and Windows applications.
• Provides technical assistance to users and makes recommendations through the supervisor to meet identified needs.
• Installs and configures local area network workstation hardware and software.
• Assists in Local Area Network modifications as needed.
• Coordinates hardware and software configurations with those responsible for specific city or department application programs.
• Maintains City Identification Card database and related software.
• Assists supervisor in defining user needs and analyzing alternative solutions; installs changes and upgrades.
• Works with Network Administrator to ensure City information systems are functioning correctly.
• Performs related duties as required.

Applicants should have at least two (2) years of related experience performing duties listed above and/or technical training or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position is part-time and is scheduled for up to 29 hours a week. The hiring range is between $24.49 and $31.63 per hour based on experience. The hours are extremely flexible but must primarily be between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. This position would be perfect for somebody who is still attending college or is retired and looking for additional income.
