About Amal Academy

Amal Academy (amalacademy.org) is a for-impact education nonprofit launched out of Stanford University in 2013. Our vision is a society where everyone reaches their full potential, starting with an education system in Pakistan that creates lifelong learners, self-starters, and problem solvers. To achieve this, our approach has been to create a model platform through our Career-Prep Fellowship, and ultimately integrate our programming into the public university curriculum. We are working to achieve systems-level change by mobilizing our Fellows and Alumni (a community of 12,000+ as of December 2023) to live lives of purpose and engage in moral leadership. We are also continuing to explore ways to increase our impact through Amal Labs initiatives, where we have... created podcasts, hosted book clubs, run teacher training programs, explored mental health counseling, and experimented with approaches to help curb pollution and address climate change.

Our values

We believe in realizing the full potential of the youth in Pakistan, and we believe that we can only create this future through a deeply passionate and dedicated team. A team that believes learning and economic opportunities will empower the youth to achieve their potential. A team that is part optimist and part activist: a team that finds reasons why things can work (rather than excuses why they won’t) and that tirelessly explores every possible opportunity (often failing along the way) until achieving success.

About the role

The Amal Career-Prep Fellowship (overview here) is designed to open up the minds of our youth to their potential for impact in the workplace and in the world. The program has seen more than 12,000 underserved university students develop into more confident, self-aware, resilient, mindful, and proactive citizens with the skills and mindsets to chart their own futures as they transition into their professional lives. Our in-house developed curriculum blends online courses and real-world projects with facilitated discussions in diverse cohorts. Peer-to-peer learning, reflection, and individual attention are at the core of the growth experience.

While we know the Fellowship is making a real difference, we are also aware of gaps where we can and need to be doing better. The world has significantly changed over the last few years with shifts in how people work and consume content (post-pandemic and post-TikTok). Technology and AI are opening up a whole new frontier of possibilities and challenges. Also, increasing political and economic instability and climate-change-induced challenges are realities that we need to learn from, cope with, and counter. We already have a world-class product, but we are keen to ensure it is the best it can be, with contextually relevant and relatable content delivered in the most effective manner to drive growth, resilience, and positivity in our youth.

We are looking to hire a Team Lead / Product Manager - Curriculum to spearhead the development of the next generation of the Amal Fellowship and to launch additional curriculum products toward our vision of helping society reach its full potential. The ideal candidate will have 8-15 years of expertise in instructional design and product management, with a proven ability to lead teams and drive the development of innovative educational products. Master's degree in a related field and international exposure preferred.

What you’ll do

As Team Lead/Product Manager, you will work directly with the CEO and Senior Team to devise product strategy, lead a team of instructional designers, and collaborate with our data, analytics, and creative resources to create world-class educational products.

Your key responsibility will be to manage the entire product development process - including the refresh of the Amal Career-Prep Fellowship. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in all aspects of instructional design, managing and executing complex projects, and leading and coaching diverse teams. By its very nature, your role will be dynamic and evolving, but will start with the following responsibilities:
