POSITION SUMMARY:Ingersoll Rand has an exciting opportunity for a Product Design Engineer at one of our locations (Bentleyville, PA - Buffalo, NY - Springfield, MO - Quincy, IL - Davidson, NC). The position will primarily lead the engineering design and development of current and new products in our vacuum/compressor product lines and is responsible for maintaining engineering data related to the... product portfolio. This role also provides occasional product support to other global sites as required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Work on assigned projects and products to improve design, performance, and/or manufacturing process; ensure the correct application of engineering principles are applied and productive use of resources are deployed.* Support Engineering efforts on critical projects which includes idea development, prototype, project execution, and plant/business system implementation.* Improve existing product line; produces cost effective designs, complex layouts and assemblies, detailed parts drawings, and generate associated bills of material.* Evaluate existing products for re-design based on feedback from manufacturing, quality, or assembly and assess functionality to determine product effectiveness for customers.* Provide technical guidance to team members including Sourcing, Operations, Customer Service, and Marketing with respect to product-based education and decisions.* Work with team to standardize product offering through product rationalization and new product development.* Collect product data via reports, manufacturing, assembly, and testing.* Work closely with Customer Service, Field Service, and Manufacturing personnel to resolve issues regarding legacy and new products* Maintain and control engineering design records for multiple products/projects.QUALIFICATIONS:- Experience Required - Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering - 1+ years of experience with rotating equipment design and manufacturing preferred. Must have good mechanical aptitude. In lieu of having rotating equipment experience, previous exposure to design of industrial equipment and machinery in general would be appreciated. - Strong experience in solid modeling using Computer Aided Design is essential (Autodesk Inventor and/or PTC Creo is preferred). - Proficiency in using and maintaining engineering data in an ERP system (SAP preferred). - Superior analytical skills required with excellent communication and organizational skills. - Basic understanding of design and manufacturing principles, with preferred experience in machining, casting, fabrication, and rotating equipment design and analysis. - Strong collaboration skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions (operations, product management, sourcing, etc.) - Must be capable to work in a fast-paced, creative, results-oriented atmosphere. - Bonus Experience: - Computer aided engineering experience with FEA and CFD Software (i.e. ANSYS and/or Converge software experience is preferred). - Experience with PLM tools (Windchill preferred). - Strong proficiency in thermodynamics and compressible flow is desirable. - Experience in acoustic and vibration analysis is desirable. - Master's degree in related engineering field.#FKIIngersoll Rand Inc.
