We are seeking a Multifamily Economist to play a key role in developing the next generation of datasets and models. As a Multifamily Economist, you will be required to use your skills in econometrics and applied economics to continuously improve EAs multifamily models crafted to anticipate and illustrate the evolving and complex relationships between the economy and the performance of the multifamily sector.
Your work will directly improve EAs suite of tools used by investors, occupiers, and CBRE transaction partners as they make decisions or recommendations around managing real estate portfolios.
You will be encouraged to demonstrate a solid understanding of economic principles including microeconomics, macroeconomics, consumer theory, market equilibrium, market structure and supply-demand relationships within the context of the multifamily sector and commercial real estate.
• * WHAT YOU'LL DO*
• Monitor and interpret economic, demographic, and real estate indicators that advise CBREs macroeconomic outlook scenarios used for modeling/forecasting.
Incorporate CBREs macroeconomic scenarios as inputs into proprietary real estate models to produce forecasts in collaboration with data engineers.
Work closely with economists, data scientists, and data engineers on research and development projects and continuous model improvement.
Incorporate sentiment gathered from internal partners.
Drive effort into subsectors such as BTR, Student and senior housing.
Audit forecasting outputs in collaboration with senior leadership and prepare for publishing.
Author and co-author expert commentary and insightful thought pieces that position CBRE as a leading voice in the industry guiding transformational outcome for investors and occupiers.
Experiences with software such as Stata, SQL, R or Python.
Maintain a backlog of research projects.

• Master's degree or PhD in Economics, Finance, or related field.
At least four years of proven experience in the multifamily sector or economic forecasting.

• Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents.
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.
Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style.
Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics to employees, clients, management and/or public groups.
• * FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE*
• Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles.
Ability to calculate complex figures. Conducts business analysis including the preparation of reports.

• Ability to solve advanced problems and take care of a variety of options in complex situations. Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES
• * Excellent knowledge of econometrics as evidenced by publications or projects. Advanced knowledge of computer software and hardware (i.e. Microsoft office Suite Products and Stata) with proficient Excel skills.
