Position OverviewSiemens Digital Industries: The Factory Automation business unit has a Technical Consultant / Application Engineer position available to support OEMs and Machine Builders in the US market.This is an outstanding opportunity to join a strong team providing the best end to end industrial automation solutions in the market. Siemens is leading the charge in providing innovative solutions to bolster the manufacturing renaissance in the US.Responsibilities• Acts as the trusted technical advisor for major OEM opportunities, associated end-user projects, and actively participates in account strategy sessions with the sales team.• Applies acquired process, product and/or equipment knowledge based on current industry trends, best practices, performance, price, and functionality.• Provides technical product advice for the development and implementation of complex or unique customer solutions.• Prepares and presents detailed technical proposals, including product demonstrations... and solution prototypes.• Performs complex hardware and/or software design consultation in accordance with customer/project needs.• Resolves highly complex technical problems to meet customers' needs. Acts as one escalation point for major customer technical issues when on-site issue resolution is required.• Develops and executes technical training or knowledge transfer materials for effective based on specific OEM requirements.• Generates technical collateral such as application notes and examples for reuse by others.• Implements a yearly learning and development plan focusing on technical skills and engineering soft skills.• Works closely with OEM Account Managers and specific End-user project teams to achieve sales growth objectives.Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and ExperienceA Technical Consultant / Applications Engineer is experienced in automation system architectures involving multiple products and technologies and has comprehensive knowledge in architecting complex solutions. This position requires an individual with strong technical selling skills and the ability to think outside-of-the-box to address the customer challenges associated with transforming their company into a digital enterprise.• Technical Skills Required• Controllers (PLCs)• Motion Control and Drives• Networking• HMI Panels / SCADA• Machine Safety• Engineering Soft Skills Required• Solution fitting• Proof of concept• Technical selling• Mentoring• Technical Knowledge/Skills RequiredExperienced in working with customers in the presales cycle: educating on control technologies, developing architectures that are designed for the future, and showing how these solutions are best for the customer.Experienced in developing & presenting customer Proof-of-Concept and Proof-of-Value demos.• Bachelor of Science or higher in electrical engineering or related engineering field• Will consider anywhere from 2-8+ years of experience in automation/motion control systems and demonstration of key responsibilities and knowledge as described above for several openings.• Travel ~30%Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and ExperiencePrior Siemens automation experience is a plusKnowledge and experience in OT/IT Integration.Knowledge and experience in Simulation / Digital Twin technologies.Business acumen: Knows how business works and is aware how the strategies and tactics work in the marketplace.• Action Oriented: Enjoys working hard and full of energy for the things he/she sees as challenging.
