Position Summary:
Our client has an opening in their Anderson, SC office for a Motor Development Engineer that is responsible for the development of AC or DC motors used in portable power tools, bench top tools, outdoor products, or any other potential motor-related products.
What you will be doing:
• Initially, gain an understanding of the AC & DC motors that we deal with on a daily basis at RTI. This will be done via:
• Internal and external training instruction.
• Building actual motor prototypes in our Motor Development lab.
• Spending time in the Dyno room to the point of being able to run a motor performance test and then file the test information into RTI's SharePoint system.
• Training on the in-house MagneForce and ANSYS motor simulation software.
• Manage any assigned new product programs from start to finish without delays on behalf of the Motor Group.
• Manage any assigned CFS (Concept Feasibility Studies) or VE (Value Engineering) projects from start to finish without delays on behalf of the Motor Group.
• Evaluate/comment on motor-related failures that may arise through life testing, use testing, etc.
• Represent the Motor Group by attending applicable motor-related meetings.
• (Limited) travel to China/Vietnam, etc. is expected in order to meet the TTI (motor design) counterparts and visit various vendors.
What you will need:
• (Preferred) Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or (min.) Mechanical Engineering with motor experience.
• Hands-on and working knowledge of motors is a preference.
• Candidate should have technical knowledge of the different types of motors (e.g. universal, permanent magnet, induction, etc.) and their motor performance characteristics. If the candidate does not possess this, then they must show that they have taken college-level courses specifically targeted for electromagnetics and/or motors
