POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. What We?re Looking For

We are looking for mature staff members to role model healthy living and the YMCA?s four character values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. We expect our staff to have a genuine liking for youth and a character that fits our camp values.

Camp is for people who love working with kids and roughing it in the outdoors. The ideal staff member enjoys hiking, camping, and cooking over a fire. They don?t mind the insects or rodents and can survive without a shower everyday. Staff must feel comfortable working as a part of a team, have the desire to pitch in when needed and stay positive throughout these experiences. The staff must be able to uphold the standards and policies and be willing to live in an alcohol, tobacco and drug-free living environment. This will be a challenging and rewarding summer job experience!

What to Expect At Camp

The Multimedia Specialist will live in cabins and assist Cabin Leaders with 5-8 campers throughout the day and overnight. Throughout each one-week session, all program staff act as mentors, teachers, and role models for campers and have unbelievable opportunities to have a positive impact on campers? lives. During their time as program staff, Multimedia Specialists will assist with cabins where possible, as well as running one of the program areas in camp, which may include lifeguarding, archery, or working in the kitchen. All staff members work six days each week, with a break from Friday evening until Sunday morning. Each day staff will have scheduled time off and our goal is to give each person 2 hours each day.

The Camp Facilities and Site

Camp is a rustic living environment, with several modern conveniences. Most cabins sleep 8 people and have electric lights. While all cabins have windows and doors, small critters will likely visit from time to time. Showers and restrooms are centrally located in our main lodge with additional Showers and restrooms located in the Outdoor Environmental Education Building. Camp has a somewhat rugged and hilly terrain, with temperatures in the summer ranging from 40 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit
