Safety, Health & Environment (S.H.E.) Manager, Saugerties, NY
The SHE Manager is responsible for providing support and guidance to the company site management teams on SHE-related matters. Ensures the organization and facility complies with all legislative, safety, environmental and security responsibilities.
Main Responsibilities
Ensures that the requirements of the company's Health, Safety, and Environment Policy and Procedures are achieved in the areas that are under direct control including risk assessment, facility risk rating, accident investigating etc.
Identifies SHE training requirements for employees based on the sites applicable.
Ensures that the design and implementation of all health and safety programs are successful in involving all employees; especially in informing, developing and training.
Provides site management with relevant reporting documents and information on a monthly, quarterly, annual or as required.
Manages proactively and protectively site related environment improvement programs by tracking energy / waste management costs and proposing reduction initiatives.
Ensures related site certificates and registrations are current and non-conformities are resolved, for example: asbestos, electrical, gas, water hygiene, chemicals and any food related licensing.
Provides support and advice to the site manager to ensure compliance with all regulatory and Atlas Copco requirements.
Develops and maintains SHE standards in Company to guide / support all functions of the business to enhance and improve the culture.
Supports line managers in the execution of their SHE responsibilities, incident hazard investigations and corrective actions.
Corresponds SHE inquires/audits from customer and 3rd party.
Conduct audits and inspections to assure compliance to company and regulatory procedures; prepares and maintains necessary regulatory documentation and reports.
Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance; works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
Respectfully takes direction from [supervisor/ manager] and other duties as assigned.
Skills / Knowledge / Experience

• Bachelor's degree in a related field, Safety Certification preferred (e.g. NASP CSM, CSA, CSP or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years experience in a Safety Engineer role with Industrial equipment manufacturing organization.
• Possess a proven track record of improved safety performance as an accomplished safety manager.
• Excellent Report writing and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The employee is occasionally required to use hands and fingers to type or dial, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position requires frequent computer use. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• This position requires infrequent overnight or multiple day travel for less than 10% of the position.
Scope of the Job
• Geographical scope of the role: Domestic
• Required to interact with the executive management team, facility technicians, company safety managers and suppliers.
• Internal and external factors which would impact this role
• Coordinate with external suppliers to ensure that the facility is maintained in an efficient and effective manner.
Pattern of work cycle
• Work cycle includes 10% planning, 40% evaluating, 20% coordinating, 30% reporting.
Money Measures
• Responsible for company safety equipment budget.
• Non-Money Measures
• Provides monthly reports to Division and Business Area Safety Managers.
People
• No direct reports.
• Supports a 7-person executive team and approximately 130 manufacturing technicians and 100 office professionals.
