Due to continued growth Prelude Australia is currently seeking Speech Pathologists in a Permanent Full Time or Part Time capacity, located in our Singleton team.
About the Speech Pathologist role
The Speech Pathologist may directly lead supports as the Key Worker with the family, developing a holistic picture of the child and family and deliver routines-based interventions.
The Key Worker also acts as a link between the family and the transdisciplinary team and coordinates consultative services from other team members through joint visits, consultation, and direct services as required... based on the individual needs of the child and family.
The Speech Pathologist may directly or indirectly provide supports as a consultant on the child’s team.
You will have the opportunity to provide communication assessment and interventions (inc. AAC) and mealtime supports to a varied caseload of children living with developmental delay, disability and complex communication needs.
You will work closely with the Senior Speech Pathologist, being supported to achieve the goals of the organisation for best practice service delivery.
Outcomes of the role :
Functional outcomes and meaningful participation : Provide early childhood intervention and evidence-based therapy to support children and their families to assist their development, well-being and to participate in meaningful activities and routines in the home, education settings and community.
Capacity building : Enhance families and other key caregivers' capabilities to support their children through experiences and opportunities that strengthen knowledge and skills, and to promote the use of interest-based learning opportunities with children.
Collaboration : Build strong, collaborative relationships with families and support informed decision making on interventions that fit into everyday routines and activities to help achieve family's prioritised goals.
Creating Opportunities : Engage in a range of professional development activities to grow your capabilities and confidence, and in turn compliment outcomes for children and families.
Team approach : Participate in collaborative teamwork with other professionals (such as Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Early Childhood Teachers) to provide quality, comprehensive and holistic services.
What will you bring to the role?
Relevant tertiary qualifications and current membership with Speech Pathology Australia.
Experience working with children including children living with developmental delay and / or disability.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team, providing consultation to Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Early Childhood Teachers.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with families and professional stakeholders.
Excellent time management and planning skills.
Demonstrated commitment and / or experience in implementing the National Guidelines for Best Practice in Early Childhood Intervention.
Special Conditions
Current NSW Working with Children Check and Police Criminal Record check.
Hold a current First Aid certificate.
Hold a current Australian drivers’ license and ability to travel throughout the Hunter.
Have a current Covid-19 Digital Certificate.

Prelude Australia also partners with the community to deliver capacity building programs, disability sector support including clinical supervision and coaching, training and workshops, facilitated playgroups, and fundraising.
The team at Prelude Australia consists of Early Childhood Teachers, Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapy.
