JOB PURPOSE
The incumbent of this role is responsible for developing designs solutions for new markets (geographies / customers) jointly with business development & operations / operations excellence teams. Supports standardization & proof of concept building for automation initiatives, using methodology provided from global and regional teams for solutioning jointly, with continuous improvement mindset.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Design and implement supply chain solutions from large scale... (geographical optimization) down to small scale (design of processes and lines / stations).
• Own solution design, costing & pricing where necessary
• Take the lead on understanding and preempt customer needs and integrate this insight into sustainable solution designs
• Develop detailed designs for the solution incorporating the scope of services, operating model, resource models, operating cost estimates, recommended selling price, estimated value for the client and draft P&L
• Create warehouse process flows for key activities including receiving, put-away, picking, packing and dispatch to maximize productivity
• Calculate activity productivity targets to support resource and activity-based costing models
• Maintain close links with LEAN and Business Process Engineering experts to ensure LEAN methodologies are transferred to new commercial opportunities
• RFP response, strategic cross country project focus, CAPEX, presentations materials, technical documentation, and support.
• Calculate warehouse based on throughput and product data mainly provided as part of a customer RFQ
• Facilitate the application of lean principles. Apply lean tools, including standardized work, 5S visual factory, total productive maintenance, pull systems, value stream mapping, and related methodologies.
• Make informed recommendations and decisions related to the purchase or lease of capital equipment, including forklifts, tooling, lift assists, generators, compressed air systems, racking, sweepers/scrubbers, compactors, and miscellaneous items pertaining to specific projects.
• Develop concepts for use in formal customer proposals including, but not limited to, process flow diagrams, KPIs and facility layouts in complex cases with support of Engineering team.
• Create warehouse throughput simulation models using industry leading software to visualize warehouse operations, throughputs, and alternatives
• Prepare and initiate the pricing process by involving the vertical controller at an early stage to align on financial implications, allow ROI analysis, and to review customer specific pricing models to ensure profitability. Obtain quotes, perform cost analysis and manage contractors working on various installation and facility construction.
• Participate in interviews and evaluation of new engineering recruits, as required, and take on responsibility of ongoing training and support of these plant and corporate resources.
• Create warehouse layouts and engineering designs using AutoCAD software
• Capture core data and assumptions that are required to design, cost and price the solution for the customer This includes the process for capturing all customer insights that might be relevant for this pursuit or future upselling opportunities
• Work closely with Business Development/Account Management, Launch and Operational teams to develop and implement solutions to meet the requirements of new and existing business. Support Sales in presenting the solution to the customer.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Operations Research or related fields with a strong background in engineering redesign and cost savings initiatives (APICS, CPIM a strong plus)
• Over 5 years of experience within a 3PL environment in an operations or solutions engineering role
• Ability to conceptualize existing operations and innovative solution designs from provided datasets and determine opportunities for improvements. Knowledgeable on state-of-the-art technology and supply chain best practices.
• Ability to be flexible, effective, and productive in a fast-paced, innovative solution development environment with strong communication skills and the ability to work with customers.
• Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, Visio or equivalent, and Project Management software are required. Knowledge of Excel should include pivot tables and familiarity with common formulas. Proficiency in Access, with thorough knowledge of relational database creation, queries, forms, reports, macros, and functions. Proficient in using AutoCAD to design functional workings of solutions in 3D and 2D formats. Strong knowledge and skills in network design/simulation software, e.g. CAST, Supply Chain Guru or equivalent
• Language skills a strong plus(oral, reading and written command of English and Arabic language is an advantage)
• Ability to facilitate up to 25% travel time
