This is a Contract position through Upwork’s Talent Innovation Program (TIP). Our TIP team is a global group of professionals that augment Upwork’s business. Our TIP team members are located all over the world.

Work/Project Scope
• Develop and release Upwork’s suite of mobile application offerings.
• Collaborate with product and feature teams to educate and influence software architecture and solutions that are optimized for a mobile... experience.
• Design, adopt, and develop tools and infrastructure to allow efficient validation of Upwork’s mobile application offerings.
• Follow and contribute to an efficient remote distributed development process.

Must Haves (Required Skills)
• Flexible working schedule, as Upwork’s teams are distributed across the globe.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills using English.
• Solid understanding of mobile development processes and lifecycle.
• Working knowledge of the general mobile landscape, architecture, trends, and emerging technologies.
• Working experience with design patterns such as MVVMP, MVVM, SOLID, dependency injection, et al.
• Working experience in Android development and related toolchain.
• Proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java.
• Some experience working with Android SDK and related frameworks and libraries.

Very Well Qualified Candidates May Have
• Experience with third-party libraries and package managers.
• Solid understanding of web development fundamentals and experience building web applications using a modern web framework such as Vue, React, or Angular.
• Good understanding and experience designing and working with REST APIs.
• Experience using a cross-platform approach to architecting, implementing, and deploying mobile applications.
• Experience with iOS development and desire to work on that platform as well.
