Lead Advisor, Investment Planning at New Zealand Transport Agency, Auckland Shape long-term investment planning mahi for Waka Kotahi and the land transport sector

The purpose of this role is to provide thought leadership within Waka Kotahi and with central government agencies on our investment planning function, translating government direction and land transport systems strategic plans into tangible investment plans that enable ongoing planning and prioritisation of Waka Kotahi investment and delivery effort.

We are looking for someone who has expertise in addressing strategic investment planning issues, has an excellent understanding of the machinery of New Zealand government and can provide thought leadership to contribute to system thinking with Waka Kotahi. You will have excellent communication skills and use those to influence in a complex... environment.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

understanding of investment planning levers available to Waka Kotahi to achieve long-term system outcomes

experience in a senior role with a high level of strategic, analytical and conceptual thinking in a complex environment

experience in leading and developing successful, future-focused plans or strategies

experience in supporting plans or strategies being made real in an organisation or sector

experience in leading, influencing and building credibility across a range of stakeholders

expertise and experience with a deep understanding of the machinery of government and the decision-making processes, including an understanding of local and regional planning processes

You will demonstrate knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an understanding of Te Ao Māori and promote tikanga and Te Reo Māori. You will also have knowledge of, or a willingness to gain an appreciation of te Tiriti o Waitangi (the Treaty of Waitangi) as it applies in the public sector.
