Your new role, what’s involved?

WSP are looking for a structural engineer to join the Maritime team based in either our, Basingstoke, London, Newcastle, Edinburgh or Glasgow Offices.

As part of the team, you will have an opportunity to complement the wide experience of a highly knowledgeable and dynamic team of Maritime experts based in the UK and across the globe.

As one of the team members you will be contributing to the technical delivery of a wide range of UK... based and international projects for a variety of clients, ranging from local authorities to private clients and international terminal operators. You will have the opportunity to provide input to all stages of the project lifecycle, from inception through design and construction, to demolition, recycling, and reuse.

You will be working under the guidance of senior team members to deliver design calculations, technical specifications, reports, and other deliverables in accordance with Eurocodes, international standards, and client requirements. Additionally, you will also have an opportunity to work closely with the clients and be able to develop project management skills.

Your role will be office based; however, you will have an opportunity to visit sites around the UK to support some of our asset management projects. Also, our overseas projects often provide opportunities to travel, and you may be required to travel for short periods of time.

We'd love to hear from you if you have:
• BEng/ MEng in Civil Engineering or similar/related qualification
• Experience in structural design (maritime desirable but not essential)
• Experience in inspection/rehabilitation (desirable but not essential)
• Experience in using engineering software (i.e., LUSSAS, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, Robot, WALLAP, TEDDS, AutoCAD etc.)
• Proficient use of MS office-based software
• Good understanding of engineering principals
• Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Be personable, approachable, enthusiastic, and empathetic
• Demonstrate commitment to collaboration, learning and team working
• Communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing
• Be organised, disciplined, and show a structured and consistent approach to your way of working
• Actively working towards chartership (ICE/ IStructE or similar)
• Interest in digitalisation and innovation
• Full driving license
