Kimberley Mineral Sands Joint Venture (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel), formed to develop the Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project. Thunderbird is a large-scale, world class mineral sands project planning to produce zircon and ilmenite products. With low environmental impacts and long-term community benefits, the Project is fully permitted and currently under construction. The Project is located 140km by road between Broome and Derby in Western Australia and has a current mine life in excess of 37 years. The two-year construction period of the Project is planned to be completed towards the end of 2023.

About the Role

Residing in the West Kimberley and reporting to the Superintendent Engineering, this is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join a growing mining company, supporting the development and review of electrical standards, engineering practices and procedures.

This role will involve managing various projects including new equipment and upgrades as well as collaborating with the site Maintenance and Operations teams to provide engineering support.

Site based roster: 4 days on, 3 days off

Key Responsibilities
• Provide technical expertise to ensure the electrical department functions are adequately supported by developing and utilising appropriate processes and guidelines
• Review criticality analysis to ensure plant events are documented, tracked and are prioritised through risk review
• Identify the plant bottlenecks and facilitate improvements for reducing unit costs
• Work with all departments to reduce downtime and improve reliability of equipment to meet operational targets
• Read and interpret electrical schematic and connection diagrams to assist with fault finding activities or develop improvement opportunities
• Undertake Electrical Design and Projects as required ensuring all work complies with Australian regulatory and statutory requirements for electrical installations, modifications, and upgrades
About You
• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in large scale heavy industry in an engineering and/or projects role
• Demonstrated experience in mining, mineral processing or manufacturing businesses
• Experience in engineering design and improvements
• Sound understanding of fixed plant assets, plant maintenance and reliability practices
• Advanced problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes
• Excellent stakeholder negotiation and management skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to key stakeholders
• Experience with commissioning and start-up of new plant and infrastructure would be advantageous
• Experience overseeing project/construction activities, including ITP’s, SAT’s, Punch Lists, commissioning stage certificates and handover documentation
• SAP Maintenance Management System experience would be advantageous
