This is an exciting opportunity to have a joint role as an Educational Psychologist & an Academic Professional Tutor (APT) at the University of Southampton. You would be seconded from Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) to the University via a one-year secondment renewable annually for 0.2fte, working the other 0.8fte at BCP, building up to at least 0.4fte APT in future years.

Soulbury A 3-8 ( £42,811 to £52,440) plus up to 3 SPA points (previous SPA pts will be honoured).

37 hours per week (full-time permanent). Part-time applicants will also be considered.

Educational Psychologists in BCP have the opportunity to practice psychology in a range of ways including traded work with schools and contributions to area-wide and multi-agency funded projects and training. All team members are also able to develop a Lead EP Role in an area of special interest. We are committed to early intervention and lead in the promotion of inclusion and the implementation of the Graduated Response across BCP. We have strong links with universities and training providers in the region and use these connections to support our evidence-based practice.

You will receive regular supervision and have the opportunity to take part in a range of CPD opportunities. You will access excellent, dedicated administrative support and up-to-date technology to support your practice including a laptop and smartphone. The council offers flexible working arrangements and virtual working options are in place to facilitate remote working where practical.  Schools can be matched to provide optimal efficiency for travel and there is accessible reduced-price city-centre parking. You will also be able to access a significant relocation package of up to £8,000, subject to criteria being met.

The appointee should have a doctorate in Educational Psychology (or a related area) and be registered with the HCPC as an Educational Psychologist.  Preferred candidates will currently be working as an educational psychologist and have experience in supervising trainee Educational Psychologists.

In terms of your role at the university you would be sharing responsibility for Year 3 with another tutor and have a role across the programme in terms of curriculum input, personal and thesis supervision, marking, external and internal examinations, attendance at team meetings and course development.
