BASIC FUNCTION:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for, but not limited to, supervising Inspectors and Technicians to maintain quality standards in accordance with customer... requirements.
note: This position will start as a Quality Assurance Supervisor with possible succession plan to Assistant QA Manager.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES of QA Supervisor:
• Create, implement and maintain Quality Instructions within the department.
• Participate in and update Process Flow Charts, PFMEA's and produce Control Plans.
• Participate in APQP activities.
• Participate in process improvement activities and problem solving activities.
• Initiate internal NCR's and participate in NCR problem solving teams and has the responsibility to oversee the corrective action system.
• Responsible for the activities of the Lab, CMM, Layout and Audit/Assembly Inspectors. Assigns duties on a daily basis. Reviews completed work for conformance to standards
• Develops employees by ensuring that they receive training in the areas of quality, customer requirements, equipment, safety and any other areas that will help them to excel in their assignments.
• Issue DMR's for defective material, quality alerts.
• Manage the Quarantine cage daily.
• Respond and react to internal and external customer's quality concerns
• Assist when required in the solution of shop floor problems
• Participate in the Engineering changes and deviations affecting current production products
• Initiate new and additional inspection and train personnel on inspection methods.
• Work with production and materials team to ensure all materials are dispositioned in a timely manner.
• Oversee the general safety of the people and the plant. Observe and monitor employee safety, and provide H&S feedback to employees and supervisors.
• Responsible for informing employees of all news (customer related, safety, quality, etc.) by developing proper communication methods.
• Backup for Quality Assurance Manager and Technicians in their absence.
• Train new Q.A. employees and set up a schedule for their training in all departments of the plant.
• Assist the Q.A. Technicians with follow-up on customer complaints communicated to the plant to ensure corrective action has been taken.
• Prepare action plans for the customers as required.
• Create timing plans for all new projects and follow-up with customer.
• Assist in set-up and review of Control Plans with the Q.A. Technicians.
• Review supplier PPAP's with Technicians and follow-up so target dates are met.
• Analyze SPC reports and review lay-out data with Q.A. Technicians and engineering.
• Review all documents prior to implementation.
• Train Supervisors on procedures (i.e. tagging, DMR's, 8D process, etc.).
• Ordering of measuring equipment, and follow-up on test equipment calibration.
• Contact for steel suppliers. Review incoming steel certifications as per customer requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
The Assistant Quality Assurance Manager will maintain a Total Quality Management System program. He / she will supervise Quality Assurance and inspection personnel in the operation. This encompasses responsibility for the development, implementation, and supervision of a complete Quality Assurance program.
• Responsible for driving reductions in the overall Cost of Quality through the elimination of waste and minimization of quality resources.
• Support IATF16949 Management Representative and Liaison for external third-party audits and Document and Data Control for Windsor Facility.
• Assist in developing and implementing an effective Quality Assurance program to ensure a reduction of rework and elimination of scrap. Ensures end product meets Customer Quality levels.
• Supervises acceptance levels or monitoring of incoming materials and services, in process material and end products.
• Maintains inspection records and reports on product quality to management.
• Participates in design, purchase, and verification of measurement systems to suit specific product requirements.
• Co-ordinates department activities with Engineering and Production in the Advanced Quality Planning and PPAP process.
• Responsible for Chrysler Forever Requirement, General Motors SQMS PPAP process.
• Maintains development of Suppliers and when necessary, completes Supplier Audits.
• Maintains liaison communication with customers concerning product quality.
• Supports Customer Liaison for Customer audits.
• Responsible for the completion of all Customer Non-conformance reports.
• Responsible for all internal/external corrective action (PPSR) requirements.
• Maintains IATF16949 Lead Auditor status and completes internal audits for Windsor Facility.
• Leads the Layered Audit process for the Windsor Facility.
• Develops and participates in Quality Awareness Training for plant personnel (ie: product training, customer requirements and Problem Solving).
• Supports weekly and monthly reports on quality performance to in-plant personnel, Plant Manager or designate, OPS package and Customers (as required)
• Responsible for effective utilization of all Quality Assurance Equipment, the purchase of new test equipment, and establishment of required measurement systems evaluation programs.
• Participates in the following processes for Continual Improvement: Windsor Directional Team VA/VE, Management Review and Financial Gap closure Plan.
• Responsible for Job Instruction (JES) and all QMS related controlled documents.
• Responsible for the Calibration process and the Hold Tag process.
• Responsible for other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or designate.
• Be responsible for safety performance in the assigned areas:
• Participate in workplace inspections, such as layered audits,
• Carry out or contribute to information sessions, such as production meetings, safety talks and tail gate meetings,
• Conduct or participate in incident investigations as assigned,
• Contribute to an effective safety training program, ensuring staff are scheduled and participate,
• Take action to correct substandard acts or conditions,
• Provide performance feedback to employees and supervisors on health & safety performance,
• Observe and monitor employee safety,
• Ensure the standards of Sections 25, 26 & 27 of the OHSA are met.
• Any employee observed not following safety rules will be disciplined up to and including discharge
• Perform any other duties that may be specifically or generally assigned.
• Use safety processes in all work and according to AGS Health & Safety, Environmental and Housekeeping Policies.
• Maintain Customer Required Quality Management Systems (i.e., BIQS).
Q UALIFICATIONS:
College Diploma, engineering or Technical degree.
Minimum of 3 years Quality Supervisor/Manager experience in automotive or equivalent. (i.e. APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, GR&R, control and mini tab.)
IATF 16949 experience, Lead Auditing experience
Automotive or stamping experience
S upervisor experience in a union environment would be an asset - with strong leadership skills and ability to make decisions.
Good communication skills, g ood judgement, Problem solving and decision making.
Knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and experience in administering collective agreements would be an asset.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Automotive stamping plant. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment.
• Exposure to noise; confined spaces, lighting conditions, material, products, and by-products associated with the manufacture of automotive parts including steel, temperature and weather extremes that require the use of specialized protective devices or equipment.
• Required to climb stairs, able to crouch for periods of time, push, pull, lift, and turn while carrying work tools in various parts of the facilities.
