The key areas of responsibility are to provide a commodities (power, gas & CO2) trading service / route to market for the ScottishPower assets and contract portfolio in Europe, with main focus on UK. This is achieved by actively trading to maintain high performance and meet/exceed financial targets.

The team provides expert market opinions to stakeholders and develops hedging strategies for the portfolio in conjunction with the Portfolio Optimisation team. Additionally, the individual is expected to propose structures and products to maximize risk/reward exposures and interface with operational shift trading to ensure optimal dispatching. All trading activities are carried out in accordance with good practice, global risk policies and any relevant financial regulations that apply e.g. FCA... in UK.

What you'll be doing
Coordinate hedging execution across the Trading desk and interface with Portfolio Optimisation team to put in place hedging strategies, monitor triggered levels and track hedging operations. Ensure all orders are hedged in a timely manner and at correct trigger levels and provide a commodity trading service/ route to market for ScottishPower's asset and contract portfolio in UK and, were required, Continental Europe.

Provide trading training and guidance to develop the capabilities and maintain the performance of the UK power Team including coaching for more junior traders.
Ensure trading processes and operational activities are efficient and meet business needs and are carried out in compliance with Group Risk Policies and Procedures and relevant regulatory requirements, including but not limited to the FCA, REMIT, MIFID 2 & EMIR.

Manage change to the trading environment caused by initiatives such as the introduction of new IT systems, regulatory trading arrangements and accounting standards to ensure compliance and continued performance.

What you'll bring
You'll be FCA approved, with a degree preferably in a numerate discipline along with extensive commercial knowledge & experience of cross commodity markets or other energy related trading experience.

Proven negotiation skills along with the ability to make strong balanced decisions under pressure. You'll bring a strong performance management and delivery focus along with sound PC skills in Excel, Word, commodity trading software (e.g. Reuters, Bloomberg, Trayport) or other trading and/or risk management software.
