The Role

Our team is applying a start-up mentality to developing, prototyping and delivering exciting new products in our Surgery business, to treat more patients and improve their care and outcomes. It is a dynamic, fast-moving team focused on learning, adapting quickly and delivering.

We need a Product Development Engineer who can think about the product from both the system level as well focus on detailed design. Experienced in solving tough technical challenges, you’ll be able to step back and understand the problem to be solved to help ensure the best solutions are being delivered.

You'll have a good balance between digging down to the fundamental science and jumping into testing / prototyping. Designing products and seeing them through to manufacture and... commercial release, you'll be working in a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating to tackle hard problems with ambitious timeframes. You enjoy mentoring other team members and helping them develop.

What you need to be successful
• Mechanical/Mechatronics degree with at least 5+ years experience
• Experience with CAD software (Solidworks, Creo etc.)
• Enjoy using your practical skills to prototype, experiment, test, and design products
• Experience with defining requirements at both system and sub-system level
• Thrive working in a start-up environment and working in new, novel areas
• Prefer working in a multi-disciplinary team who collaborate together to solve problems
• Enjoy mentoring other team members
• Love to learn, as you will gain a deep understanding of the surgical environment, our customers and patients

What would be a bonus, but not essential is:
• Medical device experience or a related industry
• Experience in user centered design and usability
• Have an interest or experience in the clinical and therapeutic side of products
