About the Role

As an R&D Scientist for Dulux NZ based out of our Gracefield site, you will design experimental programs and perform testing to help develop and improve high quality products, supporting the overall technical objectives of the business. You will collaborate with our sales, marketing and procurement departments ensuring we deliver overall product quality

You will design and perform testing or experimental programmes, formulate products and colours, set specifications, and maintain records aimed at providing high standard technical service to internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:
• Make decisions on specifications and manufacturing methods
• Evaluate materials for cost-effectiveness, supply, safety, and product performance
• Effective documentation of work practices and procedures
• Ensure products meet legal... and accredited scheme requirements
• Evaluate and support new packaging, products, concepts, colour, and ingredients
• Drive improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with Duluxgroup SH&E procedures & guidelines

Skills and Experience

Alongside your formulation experience, you are a proactive, efficient team player, customer-focused, and a confident professional. You are passionate about innovation and enjoy technical work in a laboratory environment. You will have excellent communication skills with a natural ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.

To be successful you will need to have a passion for building partnerships that add value to the wider business.

Other key skills and experience include:
• Tertiary qualification in Science/Chemistry/Process Engineering / Environment
• Ability to work with precision and detail
• Proven accuracy in record keeping
• Data handling – capture and process to gain insights
• Complex problem-solving skills; ability to clearly identify root cause and implement solutions
• Prior knowledge of formulating principles of decorative coatings and paints is desired but not essential
