Job Summary
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is one of the nation’s premier academic pediatric programs. Its clinical and educational programs are consistently rated among the top 10 nationally by US News and World Report. The Department is seeking qualified candidates for Head of the Section of Critical Care Medicine at Children’s Hospital Colorado and the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
We are seeking a leader with a vision towards advancing clinical care, research, and education to further the mission of the Section as the premier child health program dedicated to improving care for critically ill and injured patients. The Section of Critical Care Medicine has almost 50 faculty practicing at Children’s Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus and at Children’s Hospital Colorado-Colorado Springs. As the largest medical center in the western region providing such broad expertise, Critical Care Medicine at Children's Hospital Colorado is the referral center for children and adolescents whose illness or injury requires close, constant watch by a team of specially trained medical professionals.
Preferred is an individual with an accomplished academic record, demonstrated programmatic leadership, and experience within a high-functioning, diverse, academic pediatric critical care program. The candidate will be responsible for sustaining and growing the program, managing system of care clinical practice sites, enhancing the multi-discipline research program, and fostering strong, collaborative relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversees the programmatic and financial operations of the Section to ensure financial and human resources are available to support research, clinical care, educational, and advocacy/policy activities.
• Develops innovative clinical, educational and research programs to enhance the local standing and national reputation of the Section.
• Leads the development and implementation of educational and clinical training programs, inclusive of the Critical Care Fellowship and Pediatric Advanced Practice Provider Fellowship.
• Supports faculty recruitment and the infrastructure for faculty development.
• Builds and maintains partnerships with affiliate institutions and community organizations locally, nationally and internationally.
• Directs and strategically organizes Critical Care clinical patient care operations in inpatient setting.
• Facilitates collaboration in academic and clinical care with other sections within the Department of Pediatrics as well as Departments within the University of Colorado School of Medicine and other health sciences related units.

The ACGME accredited training program comprises twelve fellows who gain in-depth medical knowledge, technical skills and clinical experience necessary to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for critically ill children. The research program includes multiple federally funded investigators spanning across the basic, clinical, and translational research spectrum.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Associate Professor
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:
• Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Critical Care (MD/DO candidates).
• 6-8 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary academic pediatric Critical Care program.
• Eligibility for appointment at the Associate Professor rank.
• Independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management of Critical Care patients (MD/DO candidates).
• Experience with working with diverse patient populations.
• Experience with and commitment to faculty career development through mentoring.
• Academic focus in acute cell damage, cellular biology, vascular endothelial dysfunction, or related field (PhD candidates).
• Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado (MD/DO candidates).
Professor
• Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Critical Care (MD/DO candidates).
• 8-10 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary academic pediatric Critical Care program.
• Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Professor.
• Independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management of Critical Care patients(MD/DO candidates).
• Experience with working with diverse patient populations.
• Experience with and commitment to faculty career development through mentoring.
• Academic focus in in acute cell damage, cellular biology, vascular endothelial dysfunction, or related field (PhD candidates).
• Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado (MD/DO candidates).
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in Critical Care clinical program development, strong clinical skills, significant accomplishments in research, proven administrative and leadership abilities, and a strong commitment to education.
• Experience building constructive relationships and ensuring cohesiveness among various entities, programs, and groups.
• Experience working and leading within an academic institution.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
• Vision for program development, leadership qualities, and academic experience.
• Able to nurture strong collaborations among faculty with diverse programmatic interests, and across campus and community partners.

Anticipated Pay Range
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
MD/DO
• Associate Professor: $285,000 to $337,000
• Professor: $365,000 to $425,000
PhD
• Associate Professor: $165,000 to $195,000
• Professor: $215,000 to $250,000
The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
