In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Social Worker provides comprehensive assessment, care planning and treatment coordination for designated clients and their families.
Working collaboratively with other health care providers and the multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides direct psychosocial care, counselling and group work, system navigation and advocacy, education and linkage to relevant specialized complex care resources while facilitating client self-management.
The Social Worker is responsible for providing and developing social work services... to maintain or improve the health and social well-being and functioning of the identified population.
Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Days: 09:00 to 16:22
New Wage: As of April 1, 2023, the new wage is: $39.14 - $48.88/hour
University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) is the largest acute care facility (268 beds) in Northern Health and is the hub for specialized health services. It is a full service hospital and home to a new cancer centre for Northern BC, including a wide range of cancer treatments. Provides undergraduate physician training through the Northern Medical Program, run by the University of British Columbia and University of Northern British Columbia. UHNBC is also a key clinical education site for nursing and many health sciences students at UNBC, the College of New Caledonia, BCIT and other institutions.

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
• Two years recent related experience in a healthcare setting working with medically complex clients with concurrent disorders, or a combination of education, training and experience.
• Current registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
• Current valid BC driver's license.

Teaching: Ability to teach and coach both one-on-one and in groups.
Knowledge Integration: Integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.
Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff and members of the interdisciplinary team using verbal, written, computer communication means. Ability to effectively utilize conflict resolution skills.
Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision making skills using a systems approach.
