The Eugene S. Pulliam School of Journalism and Creative Media in
the College of Communication at Butler University invites
applications for a nine-month lecturer in the Creative Media and...
Entertainment (CME) major with an expected start date of August
2023. The successful candidate will teach classes in production and
post-production techniques in television, film, and video from an
inclusive pedagogical perspective, as well as oversee the
student-facing production organization, IndyBlue Video.

Minimum Qualifications
• An advanced degree (MA, MS) in Communication, Media Production,
or a related field
• Production experience directly related to Creative Media and
Entertainment
• Potential for juried artistic exhibition related to media
production
• Excellent written communication skills
• Expressed desire to work with students, faculty, and staff from
socially and culturally diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may meet all preferred qualifications, the ideal
candidate will bring many of the following:
• Terminal degree in communication, media or related field (MFA,
PhD);
• Successful experience in the following:
• working collaboratively with others (e.g., committee service,
being part of a production team, co-teaching)
• working independently (e.g., supervising a production, course
development);
• Experience producing, directing, or working on/with any of the
following:
• documentary films
• narrative/feature films
• commercial video projects
• live production
• news programming
• Demonstrated successful experience teaching undergraduate film
and/or media production courses
• Creating effective media content
• Articulated interest or experience creating projects compatible
with social justice lines of inquiry in teaching and
production
• Professional experience as a filmmaker or in media
production
• Experience connecting and collaborating with media industry
professionals on the local, regional, and/or national levels
• Experience managing people on projects
• Promoting, hosting and/or managing film festivals
• Record of participation in juried creative works
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Effective oral communication skills
• Effective classroom management skills

teaching load of four courses per semester with an expectation for
creative/professional activities, however this position will have a
teaching load of 3/3 along with responsibility for managing
