We are looking for a Product Owner with experience in accounting systems to join our team.

We sit at the forefront of Insurance accounting, empowering insurers and reinsurers around the world with the tools and services they need for their financial reporting and management. We are looking for a qualified or... part-qualified accountant with a strong interest in software design, or a candidate with a strong business analysis, management information system or product ownership background.

You’ll work with world-leading developers, business analysts and other product owners to create and support new features and functionality for the Insurance Accounting Suite products, keeping them at the forefront of technological excellence, whilst building an understanding of technology, insurance products and regulatory developments affecting the insurance industry worldwide.

You will be expected to develop a solid understanding of the FIS Insurance Accounting Suite and will have an interest in technology and how insurance companies use it in their business. You will be able to use this with your accounting experience to understand how emerging technologies as well as regulatory change may affect the insurance industry and consequently the FIS business.

It is expected that you may also be involved in other areas of the Insurance Accounting Suite business - the extent of involvement will depend on the communication skills, proficiency with the software, business knowledge and personal desire of the candidate to participate in client-facing activities.

Responsibilities in the role will include
• Specify new enhancements to the insurance Accounting Suite products in response to industry developments and to better meet customer needs
• Support development teams within an Agile framework as a Product Owner, technical expert, and accounting subject matter resource providing feedback on developed functionality against user expectations
• Manage product backlogs and contribute as needed to the design and architecture of the applications, working alongside internal development teams
• Organise training, communications and workshops to ensure that all internal teams understand new developments. Work with them to understand impact to working practices and look at solutions to mitigate impact internally and externally.
• Problem solve and provide solutions to technical challenges with the aim of becoming a subject matter expert on the Insurance Accounting Suite products – both with external customers and internal teams
• Support helpdesk teams with escalated client queries ensuring quality, accurate and professional answers are given from the team.
• Communicate new functionality to colleagues and customers worldwide

What you bring
• 7 years plus of accounting/industry experience
• MS Office and / or SQL
• Project / work-flow tracking tools, e.g. TFS
• Understanding of current technological tools, e.g. cloud services
• Good communication and team-working skills
• Ability to think innovatively to explore new solutions
• Ability to work to deadlines and adapt to changing project priorities.

Added bonus if you have
• Project Management experience, including Agile methodologies
• Knowledge of global insurance accounting standards, in particular IFRS 17
• Experience managing and prioritising work
• VBA, R, C#, C++ or other programming languages
• Experience of systems integration
• Application design and development tools, e.g. Visual Studio, Balsamiq
• Hardware and operating system environments, e.g. machine/application virtualisation
