A great mining company in the North West is seeking the expertise of a Safety Manager to join their team.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and schedule Safety project interventions and conduct continuous needs analysis in Safety related methodologies.
• Identify and develop new Safety related projects by evaluating data to provide information to Management for the enhancement Safety performance of the group
• Monitor and report on trends and identify leading indicators.
• Investigate best practices within the Mining industry and implement best practices where applicable about Safety and compiling reports.
• Measure compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and Impala policies and procedures to manage risk (safety) in the workplace by the above Acts.
• Compile budgets and manage costs to ensure that expenses are within approved budget parameters.
• To facilitate and manage peer reviews on fatal risk exposure and measure remedial actions to reduce... serious incidents.
• To report on safety statistics and analysis of trends to management to ensure sufficient availability of information so that appropriate initiatives can be put in place and performance is measured.
• Conduct an Analysis of all data collected and guide the operational units to prevent repeat accidents.
• To determine the risk exposure and formulate management action plans to mitigate the risk and incorporate management risk plans into standards and safe work procedures.
• To measure at-risk behaviour of people in the workplace and influence change to reduce risk-taking through the provision of relevant information, coaching and training
• Grade 12
• National Diploma in Safety Management
• Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines / Engineering Trade Certificate
• 15 years of experience in an underground mining environment
• Minimum 2 years of experience at a Chief Safety Officer level
