Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced journalist to join our Nine Radio Perth newsroom.You will generate stories, research, edit and present news and sport for Perth's premier talk radio station and our national network of stations... The 6PR newsroom is a highly-motivated and dynamic group of journalists that produces more than 20 live and local bulletins a day, plus regular news updates and any breaking news as it happens. If it happens in Perth, you'll hear it first on 6PR.Day to day, you will report the News Director and your responsibilities include:Editing and presenting informative, accurate and balanced news and sport bulletinsGenerating stories and following leads from contacts, news agencies, politicians, media conferences and other sourcesMeeting hourly and half-hourly deadlinesUnderstanding and complying with media law and industry codes of conduct and regulationsConducting interviews with a variety of newsmakersTaking direction from the Perth News Director as well as shift editors QualificationsEssential qualifications, experience & skillsDegree in journalism or reasonable equivalent qualificationProven experience in journalism and expertise in news gathering, writing and presentingAbility to meet deadlines under pressure and ability to effectively prioritise simultaneous tasksHigh-level communication and interpersonal skillsBroad knowledge of local, national and international issues, newsmakers and organisationsKnowledge of domestic and international sportKnowledge of ethical and editorial standards for newswriting and broadcastingKnowledge of laws, regulations, conventions and protocols relating to the delivery of news and public affairs contentKnowledge of the Perth marketValid driver's licence Additional InformationLife at NineNine is a people business.
