Opportunity to work with miniature horses.3-5 days per week and manageable caseload with allocated breaks in between each client, admin time each day and external supervision as well as a supportive small multidisciplinary team.
We are seeking a fun, friendly and experienced Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our Hinterland Children's Therapy team and work alongside our multidisciplinary team consisting of an OT, Speech therapist and Play therapist.
We are a small, family-owned clinic, based in the Gold Coast Hinterland, Guanaba (10 minutes from Nerang and Oxenford).
We really care about our children and families and believe that all children can reach their potential with the right supports in place. We... are passionate about delivering high quality, individualised, family-centred therapy that is effective, creative and most of all- a lot of fun!
We use a play- based therapy approach that is flexible and tailored to each child's interests and needs. We use a family centred coaching model to ensure the child's and families needs are our priorities.
We have fully equipped therapy rooms and access to safe, fenced grass areas for outdoor therapy in the beautiful quiet hinterland surrounded by horses, miniature horses and miniature cows. We also have a clinic therapy dog.
Appointments are planned with a break in between each client to complete notes, prepare for the next client and grab a snack. Admin time is also allocated each day.
The large majority of our children present with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Motor Dyspraxia, Sensory Challenges, Social and Emotional Challenges, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delays and Learning Difficulties.

ESSENTAIL REQUIREMENTS:
• Qualification in Occupational Therapy as recognised by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
• First Aid and CPR training or willingness to obtain
• A full drivers licence and access to a reliable car
• The right to live and work in Australia long-term
• Able to commit to a minimum 12 month contract
• Medicare Provider Number
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
• A comprehensive understanding of the needs of children with a diverse range of disabilities, sensory processing difficulties, feeding difficulties, behavioural issues, handwriting and fine motor difficulties, gross motor difficulties, self-care and independence skills.
• Demonstrated skill in working in an allied health clinic, with a sound understanding of your role as an Occupational Therapist in this context
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work in a small team environment and autonomously.
• Commitment to evidence based practice, continuing professional development and quality improvement
• Commitment to strength based, child centred practice.
• Demonstrated competence in use of information technology, internet and desktop applications; e.g. electronic client record systems, Outlook, Word, Excel and database packages.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• A demonstrated passion for working with children.
DUTIES:
• Provide individual therapy and support to children aged 0-12 years primarily in clinic or at home, school or childcare as needed.
• Conduct initial and a range of assessments and establish therapy plans. Communicate these results with families or carers.
• Support families and caregivers with support, training and strategies to develop and increase the child's functioning and family well being.
• Refer to other services as required.
• Liaise with team and other professionals.
