Communications and Events Manager

Electronics Watch is seeking a Communications and Events Manager to ensure smooth running of the day-to-day communications work, and logistics for online and in-person events. The successful candidate has a communications and events background, and finely tuned skills coordinating work within and across teams. They can support clear and effective messaging about what the organisation does and the impact it is having for workers in global supply chains. This position is an opportunity to grow with a dynamic and high-impact not-for-profit human rights organisation. Although it will be infrequent, travel within Europe is required.


Salary: EUR 52,800

Electronics Watch is an independent not-for-profit organisation that coordinates monitoring and remediation activities to support public sector buyers in protecting the rights of workers in their electronics supply chains. We envision a world where all workers in the electronics supply chain can use their rights to ensure safe, decent, and dignified working conditions and protect their environment.

Our staff members are located in different countries around the world and operate remotely. More than 900 affiliated public buyers are affiliated to Electronics Watch. We also train and collaborate with an international network of civil society organisations who conduct worker-driven monitoring in factories and mines linked to affiliates’ supply chains.

§ Work with the Director of Communications and other staff in developing a vision for communications for the organisation.

§ Support intraorganisational planning consistent with the Strategic Plan for the organisation.

§ Compose, edit and proofread mailings, news articles and other publications about the work of Electronics Watch.

§ Perform website reviews and the development of new content.

§ Prepare mass mailings in the CRM.

§ Manage translations by liaising with our contracted professional translators (for formal publications) and verifying the quality of machine translations with native speakers on staff (for informal publications).

§ Provide website and intranet support, including consistency checks and uploading content in various languages to the web CMS.

§ Grow the organisation’s social media profiles and manage followers.

§ Support the onboarding of new (public buyer) affiliates in relation to communications systems and platforms (i.e., intranet logins, mailing subscriptions, CRM updates, affiliation announcements) and maintain communications-related support for existing affiliates.

§ Support the maintenance of the organisational CRM, including managing mailing lists, preparing contact reports, and cleaning up duplicates.

§ Edit and proofread communications.

§ Support onboarding of new staff members, including managing staff licences to organisational subscriptions (e.g., Zoom, SurveyMonkey, Adobe)

§ Perform tasks related to data security and GDPR compliance.

§ Review and manage correspondence with general email account ([email protected]) and telephone line.

§ Manage junior communications staff and/or consultants


§ Manage the organisation’s annual calendar of events and publications.

§ Coordinate the planning and delivery of webinars and other online events, liaising with colleagues, facilitators, speakers, interpreters, and participants.

§ Manage the logistics for in-person events including the annual staff retreat, affiliate workshops and the annual conference.

§ Serve as point of contact for the organisation’s travel agency.


Candidates must have a background in communications. The following skills and experience are essential:

§ Academic and/or professional background in communications

§ Excellent English writing and speaking skills (native fluency or equivalent)

§ Experience in organising conferences and workshops

§ Experience with CRM systems, especially CiviCRM

§ Familiarity with online meeting platforms such as Zoom and Teams

§ Copyediting/proofreading experience

§ Microsoft Excel proficiency

§ The ability to self-manage tasks and workloads in a fast-paced environment, with a hands-on mentality

§ Attention to detail and accuracy

§ The ability to work on own initiative

§ Affinity with the vision and mission of Electronics Watch


The following skills and competencies would also be useful in this position:

§ Graphic design skills

§ Experience in international projects and/or the not-for-profit sector

§ Understanding of labour rights issues in global supply chains
