Job Purpose
At Veritas Solicitors as a Legal Cashier, you will ensure all movement of monies coming in and going out of the
firm are dealt with accurately and efficiently in accordance with SRA regulations and timescales. Maintaining
the business and clients ledgers ensuring accuracy, attention to detail and integrity are always applied.
Competency Requirements
Processing high volumes of BACS and cheque requests from client accounts, ensuring they are detailed accurately, authorised appropriately, bank details are validated and meet with clients requirements.
Handle credit notes
Keeping strict accounting records and reporting and updating clients regularly.
Processing costs allocation forms ensuring that distributions are calculated correctly.
Ensure client banking for cheques received is done within SRA guidelines.
Ensure all BACS / cheques receipts to client are sent promptly and unallocated funds refunded without delay.
Complete client bank reconciliation on a regular basis.
Process and post accurately all types of bank payments/transfers between accounts and then ensure they are transferred on the banking software. These requests also need to be made within SRA guidelines and inputted onto the banking software.
To investigate and clear office credit balances and balances on various suspense accounts.
Operate as a point of contact to handle any finance related queries from Fee Earners and other support staff.
Assisting with queries in a shared mailbox from external and internal customers covering all types
of cashier and finance queries.
Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience of working as a cashier or within in a legal cashier team and knowledge of SRA rules.
Ability to use Excel.
Good mathematical skills GCSE Grade A-C
Time management skills and ability to prioritise.
To be able to maintain accuracy and attention to detail whilst dealing with high volumes.
A positive attitude and strong work ethic that is keen to learn and explore new ideas.
Well organised with the ability to prioritise.
Ability to communicate effectively to team members, colleagues, and external customers
