Qualifications: • Honours bachelor degree in engineering or applied science from a university of recognized standing and Member of a provincial professional engineering association or registered in PEO Engineer Internship Training Program B.Sc. in Civil/Structural Engineering from a recognized university. • Eligible for Membership in Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO). • Knowledge of civil engineering and 1-5 years of experience in structural engineering in the areas of building design using steel, masonry, timber and reinforced concrete. • Supervisory and project management experience would be an asset. Abilities and Skills • Good verbal and written skills. Ability to communicate clearly and accurately (and where appropriately diplomatically) with internal/external technical and non-technical persons • Able to work... independently and as a member of a team to complete the required task. Job/Industry Specific Knowledge • Structural Engineering experience with knowledge in of the applicable codes and standards including ASTM, AWS and Canada specific applicable codes and standards for design of structures and rigging utilized in heavy industry. • Knowledge of the National Building Code and National Fire Code and other relevant codes and standards used in the design, construction, and commissioning of nuclear and/or non-nuclear facilities. • Knowledge of Structural Design Engineering practices, organization and quality assurance processes. • Able to use computer programs, WORD, EXCEL, and civil/structural engineering software. (i.e. STAAD Pro, ANSYS, etc.) • Demonstrated knowledge of CSA N286/N285 quality standards.
