Occupational Therapist (OT) Salary Schedule.
The 2023-2024 salary scales have not yet been approved. The 2022-2023 salary scales are attached for reference.

The Occupational Therapist is a medical professional working in the educational setting, as a support service for students with disabilities. The role of the Occupational Therapist includes, but is not limited to the following; assessment and interpretation of testing to determine the need for skilled intervention within the educational setting, collaboration, development, and support of IEP goals and objectives, determination and assessment of need for adaptive equipment and training/in-service of school personnel and parents. You must consistently demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to effectively collaborate with teachers, school personnel, parents and students, and have the ability to perform light to moderate physical activity on a daily basis.
• Determine the need of skilled occupational therapy intervention by evaluating students using standardized and/or non-standardized assessment tools, based on deficits affecting their ability to access their curriculum and make progress on IEP goals/objectives
• Interpret evaluation results to teacher, parents and other authorized personnel.
• Collaborate in development of Individual Educational Program (IEP) or 504 Accommodation Plan for eligible students.
• Provide occupational therapy services in accordance with the IEP or 504 Accommodation Plan.
• Research, recommend, obtain, and train student, staff, and parent on use of necessary adaptive equipment and specific physical needs of the student.
• Provide educational in-service/training to authorized personnel in regards to classroom and school-wide intervention strategies/techniques, and policies and procedures related to occupational therapy.
• Develop, maintain, and interpret occupational therapy records and reports, including Medicaid documentation.
• Perform ongoing evaluation of a student's progress to determine continued need for occupational therapy services based on data collection, informal/formal assessments, or changes in medial status.
• Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistance (COTA) in accordance with the rules of Georgia State Board of Occupational Therapy, if needed.
• Identify and pursue professional growth and development as required for maintaining a current licensure.
• Perform other professional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:
• Must have graduated from an approved and accredited program of occupational therapy (Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education - ACOTE), typically with either a Bachelor's or Master's degree, and has passed the certification examination administered by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• Must have or be eligible to obtain a license to practice in the state of Georgia, according to the Georgia State Practice Act (Occupational Therapy).Professional licensure is maintained through completion of 24 hours of continuing education courses per two-year cycle, and approval of the Georgia State Licensing Board for Occupational Therapy.
• Must be able to perform tasks involving light to heavy lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling and must be able to walk and/or stand a minimum of six (6) hours with breaks.
• Must possess high integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation.
• Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
