Our client is a large NSW Government Organisation who are seeking Transport Planner / Land Use Planner to join their team

The role is responsible for coordinating and preparing land use and transport planning advice to planning authorities and private developers for land use planning and development proposals, particularly Green Travel Plans submitted for the Departments consideration, and providing expert advice to achieve the department s sustainability outcomes in accordance with its legislative functions.

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure the Department meets its statutory obligations in responding to development consent authorities under the requirements of the Environmental Planning and Assessment (EPA) Act and the Roads Act in respect to land use plans, development applications and proposals by adhering to the required timeframes.
• Ensure development applications and particularly Green Travel Plans... submitted for the Departments consideration align with its objectives in travel demand management and sustainable transport outcomes; and provide advice accordingly.
• Ensure that land use development does not compromise network safety or efficiency objectives and identify appropriate measures to resolve potential conflicts.
• Ensure the relevant stakeholders understand the Departments requirements for land use plans and development consents by liaising and negotiating with the Departments staff, State Government (transport, environment and planning agencies), Council officers, and public and private organisations.
• Work collaboratively with other regions to build a consistent approach to land use planning assessment and management.
• Contribute advice for the development of strategies to integrate existing and future land uses as part of transport infrastructure and services. Model collegiate and collaborative behaviours to achieve the greater good for the community, celebrate a diverse workforce, create an environment where people can create and thrive, or support people’s wellbeing.
Selection Criteria:
• Knowledge of relevant NSW Government planning legislation and the Roads Act, with the ability to understand and apply.
• Demonstrated experience in integrated public transport and urban planning and/or development- related traffic impact assessment
• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in town planning, land use planning/assessment, transport planning, engineering, environmental science or another appropriate discipline.
On offer is a 16 month contract at a highly sought after NSW Government Organisation, with a highly competitive daily rate.
