YOUR CHALLENGE:

Science & Technology:

-Conducting research studies in the area of soft matter, colloids and emulsions -focus on texturization and encapsulation technologies using micro- and nano-structure design principles.

-Carry out scientific literature review on... selected research topics, and contribute to experimental plan definition under scientist guidance.

-Execute experimental research activities, analyze data, and test hypotheses.

-Develop conceptual and/or predictive, mathematical models for process-microstructure functions.

-Generate Proof of Concept prototypes & processes based on the newly developed colloids & emulsion microstructures and interfaces.

- Characterize key material properties, establish process control parameters for product performance, stability, controlled encapsulation and release.

-Define scaling up approaches; support industrialization based on needs.

-Drive technology transfer activities to Product Development Teams in collaboration with the Technology Transfer Manager.

-Contribute to preparing research proposals and applications to external bodies, e.g. for funding and contractual.

-Contribute to IP generation via patent scientific substantiation activities. Produce research reports and be an active contributor to scientific publications.

-Train and coach laboratory staff and students on relevant analytical techniques. Be responsible for lab equipment - ensure maintenance and calibration.

Technical Assistance:

-Active involvement in scaling up / implementation activities when needed.

-Deliver technical support to both Product Development & Operations to ensure smooth implementation of developed Technologies.

• Previous experience in similar roles, ideally at an FMCG company or a high-growth startup.
• Scientific degree at Master level in the area of Physics, Chemistry, Food Science or Chemical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a food research lab, academic or industrial environment.
• Hands-on experience and in-depth theoretical knowledge on physical characterization techniques: Rheology, Texture Analysis, Laser Diffraction Particle Size Analysis, Multi-Angle Dynamic Light Scattering, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, Surface Tension and o-w /w-w Interface characterization techniques.
• Knowledge on protein, polysaccharide and lipid physico-chemical properties and analytical characterisation techniques.
• Knowledge on texturization technologies (structure design rules) for colloids, emulsions, biopolymer dispersions and gels.
• Practical expertise and competence in microstructure characterization techniques for emulsion and colloidal-based food matrices.
• A strong sense of science for application and interest in novel technologies.
• Experience with food biotransformation techniques is a plus.
• Experience using mathematical modelling tools (e.g. MatLab) is a plus
• An analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving mindset to approach everyday challenges.
• Ability to prioritize and anticipate opportunities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (mandatory).
• Ability to create strong and trustful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
