EVONA Space Recruitment is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our client, a major player within the space sector, based in the UK. This is a contractor role for an initial period of 3-6 months with the possibility of extension.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing spacecraft propulsion products and creating drawings using Solidworks CAD software package. Our client is a leader in small satellite propulsion systems and in-space mobility services and is focused on providing the most cost-effective propulsion solution for our clients/partners’ Small Satellite mission needs.

Key Responsibilities: • Mechanical design of space structures, electronics enclosures, wire harness routing, and supporting GSE. • Submit production orders and manage external machine shops and... manufacturing partners. • Author integration assembly drawings and instructions for the integration team. • Resolve mechanical integration issues during AI&T. • Maintain mass budget and ensure the systems mass properties comply with overall spacecraft and launch vehicle specifications. • Work with structural analysts to ensure structural integrity of the systems and components. • Work with thermal analysts to ensure all components are maintained within acceptable temperature limits. • Perform mechanical integration on an as-needed basis.

Education and Experience: • Candidates must have a minimum of 3 years of experience in Design or drawing creation using Solidworks. • Candidates must have a degree in mechanical engineering, or a closely related field, OR a combination of education and related working experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. • Able to collaborate in a multi-team environment to plan and accomplish tasks and meet objectives. • Ability, agility, and can-do attitude to work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, and matrixed cross-functional environment. • Excellent communication skills with the ability to understand, analyse and interpret technical procedures, business periodicals or government policy. • Uses effective written, visual presentation, and oral strategies to communicate technical problems and concepts to a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
