Description

Port Hope is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario within the scenic County of Northumberland. The municipality has easy access to Toronto to the west and Kingston and Ottawa to the ease via provincial highways and VIA Rail. Port Hope Public Library has two branches and provides a full range of library... service to a population of 17,000 residents. The Library is seeing an energetic and motivated individual to join our customer services circulation team. The duties of this part-time position include membership registrations, checking material in/out, interlibrary loan, maintenance of the collections and financial transactions using an automated library management system. Other tasks may include reader's advisory, information services and support/delivery of library programs.

Education/Skills/Experience

1. Minimum secondary school diploma

2. An Ontario Library Service Excel certificate or Library Techniques diploma is preferable. A post-secondary diploma in a related field would be an asset

3. Excellent oral, written, reading and interpersonal skills

4. Strong conflict resolution, time management and organizational skills

5. Professional work ethic and demonstrated commitment to excellence

6. Knowledge of Symphony Workflows or another integrated library system is an asset

7. Successful employment in a service based environment

8. Valid Ontario driver's licence, current insurance and access to reliable transportation

The position will start immediately. Variable hours include days, evenings, Saturdays and Sundays. Work sites include the Mary J. Benson Branch and the Hub at Canton.
