Based in our Albany office and reporting to the Editor (Great Southern), this is a unique and exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic journalist to join The West Australian's Great Southern editorial team. You will be reporting for the Albany Advertiser, a bi-weekly publication serving the communities of the Lower Great Southern, and the weekly Extra, a free paper delivered to every household. Having served the region for 135 years, the Albany Advertiser is a historic and beloved masthead providing detailed coverage to a regional population of 64,000. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering original news stories for print and online publication that reflect the wider interests... of the people of the Lower Great Southern. You'll cover a range of stories affecting the community, including local government for the Shires of Plantagenet, Denmark and Cranbrook, health, Indigenous affairs, LGBTIQI+, youth, and community news.
