Duties

You will:
• Install, configure, administer, manage, and document MySQL, PostgreSQL, and NOSQL (MangoDB) in a Master with Replicas configuration across several nodes for high availability and high-performance scenarios;
• Advise Division management officials on integrating IT programs with other programs of equivalent scope and complexity;
• Develop new theories, concepts, principles, and work methods to significantly improve relational and non-relational data stores for designing, configuring, implementing, and documenting relational and non-relational data stores consisting of master-replica systems.

This position is designated as High Risk and requires a background investigation. Unless an appropriate background investigation is already on record with the Office of Personnel Management, you must undergo a background investigation. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must have either:
-IT-related experience demonstrating each of these four competencies:

1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail;

2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services;

3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately;

4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations;

-A bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks. In addition to the basic requirements above, you must meet the following requirements:

To qualify for the GS-13 level, you need to have at least one year of full-time experience equivalent to the GS-12 level defined as configuring and maintaining database servers and processes; assisting in the implementation of disaster recovery/contingency plans for data backup and recovery; and collaborating with stakeholders to advise on the integration of IT programs with customers.

Your answers to the online assessment will be used to evaluate your competencies in the following areas: 1) Knowledge of OS, database installation, configuration, database design, Query performance tuning, migration, performance monitoring, upgrades, and patch applications; 2) Skill in security and access management for user accounts; 3) Skill in implementing contingency plans for backup and data recovery; 4) Skill in oral communication; 5) Skill in building and maintaining collaborative working relationships; 6) Ability to review application designs for compliance and security; 7) Skill in configuring and maintaining database servers and processes.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
