About the Job

Dudek is seeking an entry-level Transportation Planner or Engineer to join our Environmental Technical Group (ETG) transportation team and support a broad range of client projects throughout California and elsewhere in the U.S.

The candidate Dudek hires will work directly with a high-performing inter-office crew comprising junior, middle, and senior-level transportation planners and engineers, including multiple AICP, EIT, and PE members that serve many clients and their transportation, renewable energy, transmission, commercial and industrial development, environmental, and construction-related projects. The position would preferably be based among the Dudek Oakland, Sacramento, Santa Barbara, or Encinitas, CA offices; however, alternative office basing and/or other work options may be considered.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Completed academic coursework or professional training in transportation planning and/or engineering analysis and/or topics;

• Familiarity with California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) transportation analysis or document section content and format;

• Consistent experience with industry standard transportation analysis software (HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro/VISSIM, etc.); and

• Team collaboration experience with teams for environmental and built-environment projects.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters degree in urban planning, civil engineering, environmental sciences, or related technical disciplines.

• 1 to 3 years of related job experience.

• Understanding of traffic operations in terms of level of service (LOS vehicular delay and roadway capacity); vehicle miles traveled (VMT); and, general principles of traffic operations such as the
• Highway Capacity Manual
• (HCM) methodologies; Familiarity with transportation analysis software such as:
Highway Capacity Software (HCS), Synchro/SimTraffic, Vistro/VISSIM, SIDRA, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with other industry software such as:
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), GIS, and AutoCAD for use in transportation analyses and report preparation.

• Technical report writing

• Familiarity with transportation impact or adverse effect assessment vis-vis federal (NEPA), state (CEQA), or local standards (General Plan Circulation Elements and Transportation Analysis Guidelines);
