Position Overview

The Information Security Analyst is a first level position in the Information Security department and will be responsible for operational duties in maintaining the Information Security Program as defined by Management. Daily activities include detecting, validating and responding to security events, performing audits and gathering reporting data. The role will also assist the Cyber Security Manager in business related workflow and assist in gathering information for reporting purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Monitor multiple environments to detect, validate and initiate response to malicious activity, security events, or unauthorized access of the system
• Participates in information security initiatives, applying security best practices to IT implementation projects including but not limited to devices hardening, system and application security baselines
• Works to promptly resolve tickets related to IT Security, such as virus/malware infections on desktop... spam email, and suspicious network traffic
• Monitor environment for patch/security compliance and report based on compliance
• Participate in security industry talks, seminars and events to stay current with latest IT security trends
• Design workflows and security policies and procedures
• Assist in developing security awareness by working with Training & Development department
• Help with business impact analysis documents in respect to information security impact

Qualifications
• Experience in auditing and working with auditors
• Strong computer and communication skills (MS Office)
• Understanding of LAN technologies and common protocols (SMTP, FTP, HTTP and TCP)
• Understanding of core Microsoft technologies such as Active Directory, MS Exchange
• Self-motivated individual, with a willingness to learn and apply new information
• Willingness to commit to obtaining IT Security certifications
• Understanding of popular operating systems such as Linux, Mac, Windows, Android and IOS considered an asset
• Understanding of cloud and virtualization technologies
• Understanding of advisor business and toolset used
• Written skills for preparing reports and briefings
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Education
• Financial industry experience considered an asset
• IT Security certifications are considered an asset
