Status: Contract Full Time; Duration: 13 Months

Salary Range: $96,785 - 120,979 per annum

The Supervisor, Family Health, leads and manages a team of multi-disciplinary public health professionals to achieve population health outcomes based on section and divisional goals and objectives. This position supports strategic practice aimed at ensuring all children in Peel will reach their full potential for lifelong health and wellbeing.

We are looking for a strategic visionary who demonstrates results with clear program and population health outcomes. You will use effective change management strategies and collaborate by building strategic partnerships.

As a Public Health leader, you will bring strong demonstrated knowledge and experience applying end to end Public Health practice, using evidence informed decision making. You are proficient... in interpreting health status data to define and develop solutions to public health issues.

You are a people leader, one that will truly inspire, coach, mentor and recognize your team of public health professionals working with Peel’s vulnerable families. You will engage in reflective practice supervision to meet the needs of Peel families. You will be able to complete priorities on time with your strong project management skills.

What You Will Do In This Role
• Effectively manages day-to-day operations of the team in addition to overseeing diverse projects
• Utilize appropriate research, performance measures, and health status and surveillance data to inform team and section planning
• Participate in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation related to Family Health program strategies, as well as clinical services and health promotion initiatives
• Collaborate with Divisional leadership team to develop and monitor work plans to achieve sectional program level outputs and population level health outcomes.
• Prepare, administer and monitor team specific budgets and manage projects for the team and section
• Analyze service levels to assist the Manager in evaluating program efficiency
• Provide guidance and ensure adherence to applicable legislation, policies, standards, collective agreements and Regulated Health Professional standards
• Participate in various divisional, inter-departmental and interagency committees
• Facilitate implementation of mandatory programs; and educate the public and internal/external partners regarding the role of programs
• Coach and mentor a high functioning team to ensure team contributes in a productive and positive manner
• Facilitate evidence-informed decision-making processes through End-to-End Public Health Practice
• Manage change and support the organization’s vision, strategic and operational objectives
• Provide leadership and direction to reporting staff to ensure efficient, effective utilization of resources
• Cultivate customer orientation by investing time and training into your team, inspiring them to be innovative while striving to maintain a high degree of customer and client service excellence
• Promote early child development as an important determinant of health, considering health equity and the needs of Peel’s unique and diverse community.
• Support and develop the onboarding, training, and capacity building of team members and others across the division with innovative approaches

What The Role Requires
• Completed Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Health Sciences, Early Child Development, or related discipline in a specialized health science area applicable to Family Health programs from a recognized university, combined with a minimum of five years public health experience
• Combination of education and experience may be considered
• Thorough knowledge of applicable Provincial legislations, policies, and standards, public health and health promotion theories and principles
• Polished understanding of professional standards as directed by the regulatory body or professional organizations for the health professionals working in the team

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Political awareness, tact, and diplomacy
• Ability to build and maintain effective partnerships
• Ability to lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team comprised of union and non-union staff, towards delivering on program objectives with a customer/client focus
• Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

Nice To Have
• Previous Public Health supervisory experience

Work Mode & Job Location: In this role you will have the ability to work remotely and attend on-site when required based on operational requirements at the 7120 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ONworksite. The frequency of on-site activities may vary on a weekly basis and based on operational requirements. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week
