About the role
Balfour Beatty is looking for an Environment & Sustainability Manager to join our BB Living places team on the Herefordshire Highways project. This role will be based from our Hereford office and will involve travel to sites across Herefordshire. There is some opportunity for home working in line with Balfour Beatty's smart working policy.
You will be responsible for coordinating and implementing the contractual environment and sustainability requirements, continual improvement and best practice for the Hereford BBLP Contract.

What you'll be doing
• Drive sustainability requirements and compliance.
• Progress performance assurance and update stakeholders on progress.
• Support supply chain events and best practice workshops.
• Ensure the sustainability delivery plan remains up to date.
• Update customer on our sustainability commitments.
• Drive continual improvements through supply chain engagement, energy audits & sustainability trials.
• Lead on sustainability initiatives.
• Induct staff on sustainability requirements.
• Carry out investigations on environmental incidents and feedback any lessons learned.
• Utilise the findings from reporting data, assessments, external and internal audits to drive sustainability action plans and inform key business decisions.
• Support the delivery of social value and collation of evidence.
• Support winning business teams with environment and sustainability, including social value, responses for bids and PQQs.
Who we're looking for
• A degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or an Environmental topic
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel
• Strong communication and relationship management skills
• Competence in environmental incident investigation
• Understanding of UK policy, environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks
• Understanding and practical experience of project Environmental, Sustainability and Social Value risks and opportunities and how they practically impact on the built environment
• Practical experience of Environmental Management and/or Sustainability in construction
• KPI's and reporting experience
• Waste management experience
• Energy management experience
