Community Services works to support vibrant, healthy and sustainable Yukon communities. The Community Affairs Branch is a highly motivated team that supports effective and sustainable local government in Yukon. Community advisors work closely with the senior management and elected officials in Yukon municipalities and local advisory councils, providing advice on a variety of financial, organizational, and strategic matters. Overseeing all aspects of the Yukon... Municipal Act, the Community Affairs Branch works hard to develop collaborative relationships between communities and Yukon Government.

Essential Qualifications

• Degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Community Development or a recognized Municipal Administration certification.
• Significant experience providing strategic advice and support to a broad range of senior-level officials in the public, private and/or non-profit sectors.
• Significant experience identifying, planning, and delivering on client needs and organizational strategic objectives.
• Experience assisting with or leading public meetings, public consultations and/or engagement processes.
• Experience tracking and reporting results.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be equally considered.

We are looking for applicants who are dedicated to working in a team that promotes effective and sustainable local governance. The applicant will also need to be self-motivated, self-aware and self-sufficient. Building and maintaining strong relationships, working collaboratively, and applying tact and diplomacy is a must. Strong organizational skills, excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills; as well as sound research and analytical skills, are also an important requirement to be successful in this position.

Additional qualifications that would be considered an asset:
• Experience in planning, facilitating, and supporting community development initiatives.
• Experience analyzing and providing advice on budgets, financial reporting, and other financial matters.
• Experience in supporting the administration and delivery of programs and services.
• Experience in understanding legislation and the legislative process.

Additional Information:

Conditions of Employment: Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence

Job Requirements: Extensive travel within the Yukon is a requirement of this position, biweekly hours are on a flex schedule as regular evening and some weekend work is required.
