Core Requirements:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, MSO/Cable Solutions Engineering, Calix is seeking a dynamic, motivated, and experienced Senior Solutions Engineer (Sr. SE) to join our growing MSO/Cable Sales team. Candidates will possess a tenacious work ethic, doing whatever it takes with resolve, integrity, and an appropriate sense of urgency to meet deadlines and get the job done. This position is responsible for all business development and pre-sales technical engagements related to Calix solutions with COX Communications in Atlanta, GA.
The successful candidate will have the ability to interact with COX at the deep engineering level as it relates to Calix solutions and will, further, be able to formulate those concepts into simple business discussions. In addition, this individual will reinforce the Calix value proposition, deliver compelling and focused presentations, and assist in the building of customer network designs.
In this role, you will interact with and influence all levels of technical and business staff at COX. Duties will include the demonstration of Calix products along with overall ownership of lab and field trials. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in a pre-sales environment as well as prior experience working directly with COX Communications.
This position requires candidates to reside in or around Atlanta, GA, home of COX Communications.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Primary pre-sales technical support of Calix s All Platform solutions
In conjunction with the Regional Sales Manager (RSM), deliver advice and consultations along with presentations and material to COX technical staff and senior management
Assist in configuring and testing products in lab and field trials as directed by COX, both in Atlanta and other market locations
Assist in the management and preparation of COX RFPs within Calix s defined RFP process
Provide detailed and proactive updates on technical and operational issues on a regular cadence to the COX business owners
Identify and articulate additional Calix opportunities to the RSM/SE Management/PLL
Influence technology decisions at COX by actively proposing Calix solutions from both the technical and business perspective
Constantly update knowledge across all COX markets in order to position Calix effectively
Become the trusted advisor to COX on all activities related to Calix solutions and issues
Actively discuss short-term and future COX product requirements with SE Management/PLL in advance of the need
Fully understand and contribute to the Calix sales strategy at COX
Key Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree desired or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Travel expectations: Position is predominantly WFH or at COX HQ in Atlanta, GA with 20%-25% travel to other COX locations across the U.S.
Technical competence and experience with traditional Spine/Leaf layer 2/layer 3 network architectures
Detailed knowledge of XGS PON, associated ONTs and FTTH architectures
Familiarity with ODN design and optical characteristics
Ability to interact across all COX levels of influence, including Advanced Technology, Project Management and TSO
Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record working with a Tier 1 MSO/Cable operator, specifically COX Communications
Ability and commitment to adopt a more consultative sales approach with COX, leading to customer recognition as a highly valued solutions consultant and key trusted advisor
Excellent presentation, written communication, and public speaking skills
Highly Desired:
Knowledge and experience of MSO/Cable BSS/OSS complex back-office systems
Understanding and experience of the COX OCML architecture
Experience with Linux-based operating systems and tools
Good understanding of disaggregated network management solutions
Firm understanding of API implementations like REST/JSON
Understanding and experience with virtualized server/VM environments
Firm knowledge of the main architecture components of a traditional MSO/Cable HFC network
