Position Summary:

Managing Editor-CAR Magazine

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Managing Editor to join our team at Habari Media. The successful candidate will assist the editor with all administrative and editorial tasks, ensure deadlines are met, and guide the magazine through various production cycles to print. In addition, they will liaise with the design department, edit incoming copy, and proofread page layouts, ensuring grammar, style, and tone are correct according to the CAR style guide. The Managing Editor will also work with the Deputy Digital Content Director to manage the weekly online content schedule and work towards the continued editorial integration of print and digital. The Managing Editor will also... liaise with the sales manager regarding incoming sales requests and advertorial content.

Responsibilities:

• Assist the editor with all administrative and editorial tasks

• Commission freelance writers and photographers

• Ensure deadlines are met and guide the magazine through various production cycles to print

• Liaise with the design department regarding design

• Edit incoming copy and proofread page layouts, ensuring grammar, style, and tone are correct according to the CAR style guide

• Work with Lead Digital Creator to manage the weekly online content schedule

• Work towards the continued editorial integration of print and digital

• Liaise with the sales manager regarding incoming sales requests and advertorial content

• Write feature content when required

• Assist with photoshoots when required

• Create unique content for social media platforms when needed

Requirements:

• Diploma in journalism, communications, or related field

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a managing editor role or similar position

• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills

• Strong organizational and time-management skills

• Experience managing budgets and deadlines

• Knowledge of the automotive industry is preferred

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
