Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
Main duties will include assisting the midwifery team with the delivery of patient care whilst maintaining a clean, tidy and safe environment conducive to high standards of patient care,. The role will also involve the provision of some administration support to the midwifery staff, e.g. ordering of supplies.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a caring and empathetic approach and an ability to relate positively to staff and patients. Significant and relevant work/social experience which has utilised skills and knowledge that could be of benefit to this post are essential.
This post will involve shift working including days/ nights and weekend.
The successful candidate will be expected to complete a Level 3 qualification within the first 2 years of the role.

Main... duties of the job
The main duties that are involved in the role are categorised into the following areas:
• helping to care for mothers and babies.
• making routine observations on mother and babies (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and oxygen saturations).
• updating records and other administration tasks.
• educating parents one-to-one or in groups.
• taking blood samples for testing.
• preparing equipment.
• promoting and support breastfeeding
• reporting issues to a Midwife
• ensuring clinical area is clean and tidy at all times.
