Who We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a junior environmental engineer or scientist to work in our Duluth, Georgia office who can support environmental assessment, compliance, and remediation projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Successful candidates will be interested in earth science, hydrology, sustainability, environmental policy, geography, natural resources stewardship, and water resource management. This position would report to and interact with senior scientists, engineers, and project managers, and would be involved with industrial, linear utility, water resources, site remediation, ecological restoration, and other environmental engineering projects. The right candidate will be professional, attentive, courteous, self-motivated, and diligent.

What You Will Be Doing at Woodard & Curran:

Typical field work activities will include site visits to active industrial facilities, undeveloped "greenfield" property, and active construction sites to make observations and collect environmental data. Field work may include observation of industrial processes, health and safety monitoring, GPS mapping of environmental resource constraints, and/or collection of samples related to stormwater, air, hazardous materials, wastewater, wetlands, soil, groundwater, sediments, and/or other environmental media. The preferred candidate will be flexible team player and should be prepared to travel for up to 2-4 weeks at a time for certain assignments.

Typical office duties would include preparation of project health and safety plans as well as assistance with environmental data management, analysis of data using Microsoft Excel, review of local/state/federal regulations, technical report preparation, preparation of environmental permit applications, performing historical document reviews of project sites, and mapping environmental resources using Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The selected candidate may have some intermittent communications with clients and regulatory agency personnel.
• Complete technical tasks for environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance projects
• Assist with environmental assessments such as aquatic and terrestrial habitat field surveys
• Perform construction site monitoring and coordinate with project manager and contractors as appropriate
• Completion of E&SC inspections on active construction sites
• Phase I Environmental Site Assessment site visits and reports
• Environmental sampling while following appropriate sample integrity and chain-of-custody procedures
• Sample coordination with appropriate laboratory for sample analysis

What You Will Need To Succeed:
• BS/MS degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, chemistry, geology, biology, safety, occupational health or related field
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) is required
• Willingness to travel throughout the United States as project requires
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work long hours in a variety of weather conditions
• Ability to traverse uneven terrain and carry field equipment (up to 40 lbs)
• 1-2 years of professional environmental consulting experience is preferred, but not required
• OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER certification is preferred, but not required
• Experience using AutoCAD or GIS software is preferred, but not required
• Experience using GPS technology is preferred, but not required
• Some knowledge of eastern North American wildlife is preferred, but not required

Compensation

Pay:

This position's anticipated pay range is provided below; final exempt salary or non-exempt hourly pay will be dependent on experience level as well as considering a % based geographic differential based on where the final candidate will be working. Geographic differentials are used to recognize and reflect cost of labor differences between geographic markets.

Annual Incentive Bonus Opportunity:

Eligible positions may receive an annual cash bonus based on the role's organizational level, and is represented as a percentage range of eligible earnings**

Pay Range
$49,448.00 - $74,172.00
