Job Summary
The School of Arts and Sciences seeks a dynamic tenure-track candidate for a faculty position in Environmental Science. This is a 10-month academic position beginning August 2023.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities -
-Course development and instruction of courses in Environmental Science and Biology, with emphasis in Oceanography, Marine Biology, and/or Aquatic Ecology
-Maintain on campus office hours, prepare lesson plans, syllabi (including course objectives), lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams, and submit final grades and attendance reports on time
-Some online instruction may also be required, as needed
-Travel may be required to fulfill instructional or service duties, including to the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location
-Academic advising, mentoring and career counseling
-Commitment to high-impact educational practices
-Professional development, service and scholarship activities
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
-Doctoral degree in Aquatic Sciences, Oceanography, or a Related Field with specialization in Ecology or related discipline from a regionally accredited institution
Other Required Qualifications
-Commitment to highly effective/engaging science education
-Commitment to employ field-based experiential learning, service-learning, and other high-impact educational practices
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
-Experience with remote sensing, GIS, spatial-analysis, and/or sensor building
-Experience with in-person and online/hybrid instruction
-Recent experience teaching at the collegiate level
-Experience mentoring undergraduate research
-Experience developing and implementing innovative pedagogy
-Experience with service to an institution and broader community with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
