Project Nature:

(T26) "Wi-Fi Connected City Programme" - Provision of public Wi-Fi services in the public areas

Job Description:

(T26) i) To assist the project manager to liaise with contractors/service providers to implement public Wi-Fi services at land boundary control points, law court buildings, public transport interchanges, public markets, cooked food centres under Government-funded and public-private collaboration (PPC) arrangement.

ii) To assist the assessment of land boundary control points and law court buildings on the feasibility of installation of radio base stations for mobile services under the PPC arrangement.

iii) To liaise with contractors and various stakeholders to work out a feasible technical design on installation of radio base stations for mobile services enhancement at indoor venues.

iv) To liaise with contractors, bus companies, the... landlords and other stakeholders on the technical design, installation and on-going maintenance arrangement of radio base stations and Wi-Fi services at public transport interchanges, including the application of Temporary Traffic Arrangement as required by Transport Department for road excavation works.

v) To liaise with contractors to prepare the technical proposals for radio base stations and Wi-Fi installation in accordance to guidelines set out by the Government.

vi) To pay visits to various government venues and liaise with venue manager to review and approve the technical proposals for radio base stations and Wi-Fi installation.

vii) To handle complaints and enquiries from the public regarding the Government-funded and PPC Wi-Fi services.

viii) To assist in overseeing the on-going operation of the Government-funded and PPC Wi-Fi services including the monitoring of the availability and performance of the services.

ix) To assist in providing relevant information and input for the promotion of the Wi-Fi.HK brand.

Yrs of Total Post-Quali Exp 4.0 Requirements i) At least 4 years' hands-on experience in implementation of Wireless Technology related project, including hands-on experience in various aspects of Wi-Fi services implementation, such as venue inspection and assessment for public Wi-Fi services provision, Wi-Fi network system design, technical proposal review and service acceptance, etc.

ii) Has exposure in radio base stations and associated equipment, Wi-Fi hardware, software and testing equipment.

iii) At least 4 years' experience in site preparation, including the experience of verifying / designing of trunking & cabling system, power points and liaising with the users on the coverage requirements, etc.

iv) Hands-on experience on site preparation in government venues, land boundary control points, law court buildings, public transport interchanges, public markets, cooked food centres, etc. is desirable.

v) Has knowledge of and experience in radio base station installation at indoor venues, associated telecommunication regulations and best practices.

vi) Has knowledge of communication infrastructure and power supply for enhancement of indoor Wi-Fi and mobile coverage.

vii) Work experience in the Government is desirable.

viii) Highly desirable to be familiar with the government procedures and code of practices for setting up public Wi-Fi and for provision of access facilities in buildings for the supply of telecommunications and broadcasting services in public streets and government lands/premises.

ix) Has knowledge of and experience in preparation of technical proposals, guidelines, papers and reports of Wi-Fi services, and provide secretariat support to project/systems manager.

x) At least 4 years' experience in Internet/Intranet technologies.

Technical Skills:

. At least 4 years' experience in Network Design (NDN);

. At least 4 years' experience in Wide Area Network (WAN);

. At least 4 years' experience in Wireless Technology (WLT);

. 1 year's experience in Wireless and Mobile (WLM) is an advantage;

. 1 year's experience in Networking (NET) is an advantage.

Non-technical Skills:

. At least 4 years' experience in project management (PRM);

. At least 4 years' experience in site preparation (SPE);

. At least 3 years' experience in vendor management (VMG);

. Good coordination skills is a must;

. 1 year's experience in negotiation (NEG) is an advantage.
• Bachelor's degree/Higher Diploma in Computer Science, IT or equivalent;
• At least 4 years' post-qualification experience in which at least 1 year's relevant experience in a similar post and in a comparable capacity
