About The Role
The Web Administrator/Developer is primarily responsible for managing the design, implementation, and operation of websites across the Beedie School of Business (Beedie) and its affiliated websites, databases, and web-related technologies. As a key member of SFU's Administrative Technical Solutions team providing services to various university business areas, the Web Services Developer acts as consultant and technical resource to faculty and staff; ensures web security; and oversees customized database solutions for student recruitment and communication objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computing science, interactive arts, or equivalent relevant discipline and two years of related experience designing and developing interactive websites, or an... equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Excellent knowledge of software development, including planning, layout, and the use of relational databases and other tools to create database management systems (e.g., Access, FileMaker).
• Excellent knowledge of current software, web, and database technologies and standards including XML, XHTML, AJAX; current scripting languages (e.g., HTML 5, PHP, Perl); RDBMSs (e.g., MySQL, Oracle); JavaScript; (CSS; W3C Software Usability Guidelines); and accessibility guidelines.
• Excellent knowledge of a variety of operating systems (e.g., OS X, Unix, Linux and Windows).
• Excellent knowledge of content management systems (i.e., WordPress, Drupal, Expression Engine, CraftCMS or Adobe Experience Manager).
• Good knowledge in managing a LAMP server.
• Excellent user interface design skills.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
• Excellent problem analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and recommend new and evolving web and database solutions.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical issues and translate business requirements into technological solutions.
• Ability to design, develop, document, and maintain secure database-driven web applications.
• Ability to design a web framework and integrate system components.
• Ability to develop and facilitate workshops for staff, faculty and instructors relating to web-based technologies for administration, disseminating information, and teaching.
• Ability to provide mentorship to co-op student programmers.
• Ability to create system and training documentation.
• Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator or other visual design and wire-framing tools.
