Permanent - Biomedical Scientist - Histology - Cambridge

Maxximas permanent team are recruiting for Histology Biomedical Scientist to work for a private laboratory based in Cambridgeshire, ideally surrounded by Peterborough, Cambridge, and Northampton. This laboratory is 100% digital in their reporting, utilise AI and are passionate about internal R&D.

In this BMS position, you will play an important role within this Histology laboratory, providing a histopathology service, including specialist analytical testing on a range of biological samples.

You will be responsible for processing patient samples in good time and reporting results.

As BMS, you will be expected to prioritise your workload, work with the MLAs in your team and perform urgent analytical testing.

Dissection skills are high valued in this role.

Employment Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5, Full-time, Monday- Friday
Salary: £28,000 - £41'000

On a typical day you will:
Use your histological knowledge and experience to perform a wide range of tasks including specimen dissection, embedding, microtomy, immunohistochemistry, special stains, and internal quality control. Use and maintain our state-of-the-art instruments to ensure our lab delivers accurate and rapid turnaround times, to deliver patient results sooner. Help train and develop our fantastic team in histology procedures. Work closely with your colleagues to ensure that we meet the high standards that are required when processing human tissue samples. No job is too small, you will work across the team to help, and unblock any backlogs in the lab and support other areas of the business where necessary in a dynamic environment.

Your responsibilities will include:
Clinical specimen preparation and dissection, technical service participation for urgent biopsy specimens, paraffin embedding, microtomy, immunohistochemistry, special stains, internal quality control, proficiency in all laboratory instruments, routine maintenance, technical troubleshooting, training colleagues in histology procedures,

What will you need to succeed in this role?

- BSc or equivalent in a biological discipline
- Registration with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist
- Experience in Histology
- Experience in Dissection and/or Block Cutting
